Charged $89.99 after cancellation confirmation

I cancelled my AVG Ultimate subscription on March 3rd and received a confirmation email. Despite this, AVG charged my credit card $89.99 on April 1st. I have contacted their support team four times over the past six weeks. Each call results in a 40+ minute hold before being disconnected. I have submitted a chargeback with my bank. AVG has not responded to any of my emails.

I eventually filed a dispute with my credit card company and received my money back that way. AVG never acknowledged my complaint. The entire process took two months.

I have been trying to reach AVG customer service for three weeks. The live chat on their website shows as available but never connects to an agent — it just spins indefinitely. Phone support puts you on hold for over an hour and then disconnects. I have sent five emails with no response. I am a paying customer and cannot get any help whatsoever.

Double-charged for the same subscription

AVG charged my account twice in the same billing cycle — once on the 1st and again on the 15th of July. Both charges are for the same subscription plan. Cancel button on portal does not work

The cancellation button in the AVG account portal simply does not function. Clicking it does nothing. I tried on three different browsers and two different devices. I had to call support and wait 55 minutes to finally get my subscription cancelled. This feels intentional — making it as difficult as possible to cancel so they can keep charging you.

AVG advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee prominently on their website. I requested a refund on day 22 after purchase because the software was causing system slowdowns. My request was denied. The support agent said the guarantee only applies under specific conditions that are not mentioned in the main advertisement. This is false advertising.

Renewed a subscription I cancelled two years ago

I cancelled my AVG subscription in 2024 and have not used the product since. In June 2026, AVG charged my old credit card $79.99 for a renewal. I do not know how they still had my payment details on file after two years. This is completely unacceptable and potentially illegal. I have reported this to the FTC.
